There are a few steelhead getting caught on the Wilson, but overall the fishing has been slow. Last week’s rains don’t seem to have brought in as many fish as hoped, and the river is dropping fast again. Hopefully when we get warmer water temps and some more rain fishing will pick up. Float fishing jigs, beads, or bait, drift fishing, nymphing, and swinging flies or spinners are all good techniques. There have also been some very bright wild coho caught on the Wilson the past couple weeks, so know your fish ID, and remember there is no retention of wild coho.

Anglers are reminded the Wilson River is closed to salmon fishing Aug. 1 to Dec. 31, upstream of Jordan Creek (River Mile 21.9).
