The fishing on the west coast continues to be good, and the spring steelies are coming over the rail. Pro Guide Mario Gomez has had an amazing steelhead season fishing the coastal rivers is Northern California and Southern Oregon. Side-drifting has been the go to technique for most rivers this year, it’s hard to go wrong with the staple of the industry yarn ball. Most guide boats are seeing 2 to 4 fish a day with a few down runners starting to pull on the end of the line. BOOK NOW if you want to have an amazing day on the river.
It’s great to have so many rivers to choose from in the State of Jefferson XX, if the Klamath River, and Umpqua River are big and brown you can head over to the coast and fish for steel fresh from salt. You can fish for the grey ghosts in two separate states in the same day if you prefer, you can float the clear blue Smith River and catch steelhead in the redwoods, than load up and go float through the wild and scenic Chetco River and fish for some meat. The place Ironhead Guide Service calls home is truly the steelhead epicenter of the west coast.
Mario Gomez is a Northern California and Southern Oregon professional fishing guide that chases salmon, trout, and steelhead on the most productive rivers in the Northwest. Pro guide Mario Gomez has spent his entire life fishing the Klamath River, but also follows the circuit and targets the California and Oregon coastal streams each year. If you are interested in fishing the Klamath River, Smith River, Chetco River, Umpqua River and Rogue River click on the website and book your trip today.
