Save $25: Report your hunt

Approximately 20 percent of hunters who bought a big game hunting tag in 2023 will be charged a $25 dollar fee because they didn't report their hunt by Jan. 31. Hunters who report their hunt by Jan. 31 are eligible to win a special big game tag of their choice. Which would you rather be? Find ways to report.‌

Veteran and active military waterfowl hunt Feb. 3

This statewide waterfowl hunt includes ducks, coots and geese, and is open only to veterans and members of the Armed Forces on active duty. Find more information, including what licenses and stamps are required.‌

Best bets for weekend fishing

Conditions for winter steelhead fishing have improved, conditions for ice fishing are bleak, trout remains an option.‌

  • Many steelhead rivers, especially in the NW and S zones, are falling back into shape and will be fishable this week and into the weekend. Better jump at this chance as there is rain in the longer-term forecast.
  • With the recent rains and warmer temperatures, ice conditions on most waterbodies are unsafe or questionable.
  • Instead, consider trout fishing on lakes and reservoirs with plenty of open water, and plenty of trout left over from stocking last spring and summer. Check the zone reports for suggestions.

Check out the zone reports for more information and options.‌
